Police ramp up investigation into death of Bobbi Kristina Brown

Police are ramping up their investigation into the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown as her family continues to allege her ex-partner Nick Gordon had violently assaulted and stolen money from the 22-year-old.

The family of the only daughter of Whitney Houston launched a US $10 million civil lawsuit against Nick Gordon, 26, in early July after Bobbi Kristina was moved to a hospice and taken off life support.

She had been in a coma since being found face down in a bathtub at her Georgia home on January 3.  

Despite being revived by emergency crews, she lost significant brain function and never regained consciousness before passing away yesterday.

The family alleged Mr Gordon had “caused, among other things, substantial bodily harm to Brown,” according to CNN.

They also alleged that she was found with a swollen mouth and had a tooth knocked out and have accused her ex-boyfriend of foul play, as well as allegations he accessed her bank account and stole thousands of dollars.

Mr Gordon was reportedly banned from visiting his former lover.

Police have confirmed there is an ongoing criminal investigation into her death but have not commented on the family’s allegations.

Mr Gordon has not been charged with any crime.

"Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family," a statement released by the family yesterday read.

"She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months."

Her father, Bobby, issued a separate statement and said he was “numb” at the loss of his daughter.

“I am completely numb at this time. My family must find a way to live with her in spirit and honour her memory. Our loss is unimaginable. We thank everyone for the prayers for Krissy and our family as we mourn our baby girl.”

Brown's death echoes that of her famous mother, who was found submerged in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in February 2012.

Coroners concluded that the music legend died by accidental drowning, with cocaine use and heart disease as contributing factors.
