Blown tyre causes truck to crash

A truck has launched over a traffic barrier as its tyre exploded in a high-speed horror on a French highway.

A fellow truck driver behind the crashed vehicle had his dashcam filming as he drove on the A9 highway in Nimes in southern France on Friday.

The ill-fated truck can be seen driving in the right lane of the highway when at least one tyre bursts in a puff of white smoke.

Almost immediately the vehicle swerves to the right, quickly crossing the emergency lane and tipping as it runs off the road and into the guardrail.

The truck driver who filmed the accident said the driver probably knew they were in trouble before they crashed.

"In the video we can see a road sign that show us that a bay is not far from him. I think that the driver would like to stop in this bay but he had not got the time for and finished over the highway slide," he wrote online.

"You can also see that I was slowing to stop. But because of my load I can't stopped and I saw that other drivers were already stopped next to him."

It is unclear if the driver was injured in the crash.
