Baseball player filmed beating woman in shock CCTV

Footage of a professional baseball player in the United States beating a woman and dragging her down a stairwell after a game has been released to a local television network in Texas.

The KRISTV video shows Danry Vasquez and the woman enter the stairwell at Whataburger Field in August 2016 before he suddenly strikes her face with his left hand.

Vasquez, a Venezuelan national, is then seen striking the woman another two times before pulling her hair and dragging her down the stairs.

The victim is left sobbing heavily, before Vasquez yells and then eventually tries to console her.

The video was released to the TV station through an open records request.

Vasquez was playing for the Corpus Christi Hooks at the time, a Double-A minor league affiliate of the World Series champion Houston Astros.

The criminal case against Vasquez was eventually dropped and he was given strict instructions as part of a plea deal.

Despite the attack, Vasquez and the woman appear to have remained together, with the pair photographed together just months after the assault took place.

In a Facebook post from October 2016, Vasquez wishes a happy birthday to “one of the most important people in my life”.

“My spark plug and the person who is always with me in the good and the not so good,” he posted.

“You are the love of my life and with you I will be until the end of the world princess!”

Vasquez's current team the Lancaster Barnstormers, which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball, has given him the sack after the footage surfaced.
