Baggage handler who fell asleep inside cargo hold made desperate 911 call from the air

A baggage handler who woke up inside a plane’s cargo hold while it was in the air made a frantic call to 911 for help.

Alaska Airlines flight 448 had just taken off from Seattle bound for Los Angeles on Monday when the pilot heard banging from beneath and turned the plane around for an emergency landing.

“I’m inside a plane, I feel like it’s moving in the air. Flight 448 can you please tell somebody stop it,” the man says.

“Where are you in a plane at?” the dispatcher asks.

“I’m inside the plane, Alaska Airlines Flight 448,” he answers.

The dispatcher seems confused as the man attempts to explain the gravity of the situation.

“Are you at the airport?” she asks.

“I’m not in the airport. I feel like it’s moving,” he says, before the call begins to cut out.

The man was in the hold for at least 14 minutes while the plane was in the air.

He emerged from the plane unharmed but was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The employee started work at 5am that day and was scheduled to end his shift at 2.30pm.

He told authorities he had fallen asleep in the cargo hold.

His team noticed he was missing but thought he had simply finished his shift and gone home.
