Baby impala toys with leopard

An affectionate baby impala has been filmed befriending a leopard at Kruger National Park in South Africa.

While most would run for their lives at the sight of a predator, this youngster seems determined to break away from the pack as it fearlessly nuzzles the killer cat's nose and mouth.

Even when the leopard starts playing rough, the antelope makes no attempt to leave, continuing to pester its adversary as it lazes in the clearing.

The bizarre encounter was recently captured by game ranger Estiaan Hous, who says the interaction lasted for an hour before the pair disappeared into the bush.

It is not clear what fate met the impala, but as cats are known for toying with their prey it is likely their friendship only lasted until dinner time.
