Wife in police custody after Australian podiatrist Phillip Vasyli stabbed to death in Bahamas home

The wife of a well-known Australian podiatrist found stabbed to death in his up-scale Bahamas home has been taken into police custody for questioning.

Phillip Vasyli, 59, was found stabbed seven times and had been dead for seven hours when he was discovered in his home in the gated Old Fort Bay community on New Providence Island, local authorities said.

Investigators said Mr Vasyli's wife Donna is their person of interest over the death.

No one has been charged.

Vasyli established three podiatry clinics in Sydney and later founded an orthotic footwear company.

His website states that his Orthaheel product sells in 25 countries around the world including the United States and the United Kingdom.

He also ran a non-profit organisation to help improve the health of children and those from poor communities.

He was married with two children.
