Australia-bound superliner, Royal Caribbean's Ovation Of The Seas, has been launched following a loud and spectacular singing, dancing and digital naming ceremony in Tianjin, China.

Chinese actress and X-Men star Fan Bingbing officiated on Friday in the traditional nautical role as godmother onboard in the Royal Theatre, cutting a ribbon to send an enormous bottle of champagne smashing against the ship.

The audience wore radio-controlled LED armbands which sent colour flashing throughout the theatre for the ceremony.

The world's second largest class of ship, Ovation Of The Seas cost more than a billion dollars to build and carries almost 5000 passengers.

The ship is the largest single investment by a cruise company in the Australian market.

Ovation Of The Seas will follow the northern and southern summers, beginning its Australian schedule in Sydney from December 15.
