Thai authorities find 40 dead tiger cubs in a Buddhist temple freezer

The bodies of 40 tiger cubs have been found in a freezer at a Buddhist temple in Thailand.
Local authorities raided the centre in Kanchanaburi on Monday to rescue all the remaining living tigers at its Tiger Temple, the BBC reports.

Photos of the tiny, lifeless bodies lining towels on the floor have been posted online.
A number of body parts from other animals were also discovered in the freezer, BBC reports.
"They must be of some value for the temple to keep them (cubs)," Thailand Department of National Parks' Adisorn Nuchdamrong told Reuters.
"But for what is beyond me."
The temple was considered a popular attraction for tourists until it was closed following Monday’s raid.
