'Dead' girl wakes up inside coffin

A three-year-old girl who woke up inside her coffin after being pronounced dead has died.  

Footage from the Philippines went viral over the weekend and shows the toddler being lifted out of her wooden coffin during a church service in Bayabas as stunned mourners looked on. Police confirmed the incident to the Philippine Star.

Police Senior Inspector Heidil Teelan said the girl was taken to a local hospital on Friday after suffering a severe fever.

He said a physician determined that she had no more pulse and pronounced her clinically dead the following morning.

The mistake was only realised when a funeral attendee removed the cover of the girl's coffin and saw her head move.

The parents then gave her water and rushed her to a clinic for a check-up.

The little girl later passed away in hospital.
