A man who shared an image of himself helping a 93-year-old woman mow her lawn has been inundated with positive responses on social media.

Rodney Smith Jr. runs a not-for-profit organisation called Raising Men Lawn Care Service which assists the elderly or those who may have difficulty mowing their lawns due to disability in his Huntsville, Alabama community.

In the image posted to his Facebook page, Mr Smith Jr said “neighbours told us that she been out their [sic] trying to cut her own lawn” before proposing his organisation would “make sure her lawn is done every two weeks”.

The image has since been liked more than one million times and shared more than 200,000 times.

“The typical response is tears of joy,” Mr Smith Jr told Upworthy.

Mr Smith Jr’s group says its vision is “to unify ordinary yard maintenance service with the commitment of raising our boys as positive men”.

The organisation posts images of its feats online, often completing their duties when people aren’t home and leaving notes on their doors.

The group of around 20 members has set up a GoFundMe account to raise funds for its cause so it can maintain its work.
