Amanda Knox will wed a musician who wrote to her Italian jail cell as she served time for the murder of her roommate.

Knox, 27, who spent four years behind bars before her sentence was overturned in 2011, is engaged to 27-year-old Colin Sutherland, with whom she went to school with, The Seattle Times reports.

The American was initially found guilty of murdering 21-year-old Meredith Kercher in 2007 before that decision was reversed in 2011 and she returned to Seattle.

Last year, Knox and her co-accused Raffaele Sollecito were reconvicted by an Italian upper court.

Sollecito, 30, was tracked down near the Austrian-Slovenian border and ordered to stay in Italy until the case is heard again next month.

Italian prosecutors say the former lovers were responsible for the death of Kercher, who they alleged had died in a sex game gone wrong.

Knox, who graduated from the University of Washington in June with a degree in creative writing, had previously dated another musician, guitarist James Terrano, before Sutherland.

Now working in a Seattle book shop and as a writer for the West Seattle Herald, she confirmed her engaged via email to The Times.
