'There's a bomb in my arse', airport security told

Parts of Beijing's international airport were shut down after a passenger fed up with waiting at a security checkpoint claimed he had an explosive device hidden in his rectum.

The man was reportedly "in a hurry" to board his flight and became frustrated with the slow pace of security on Monday, reports the South China Morning Post.

He showed "signs of anxiety" and made "constant complaints" about the security checks.

He made his alleged threat when he was asked to remove his shoes.

"Do I need to drop my pants as well? I have a bomb in my arse," he said, according to an airport security report.

An official asked the man to repeat what he said, which he did — later claiming he was unaware of the consequences his flippant remark would have.

The checkpoint was shut down and passengers evacuated to other terminals when a security alert was activated.

The alert was called off when no threat was found.

The man, whose identity and flight destination was not revealed, was searched and taken to a police station.

He was reportedly put in detention for five days.
