Abandoned twin lion cubs rescued by zoo

A pair of adorable baby lion twins are being restored to full health by zoo keepers in China.

The felines, both female, were abandoned by their mother when they were just one month old.

"When they were born, their necks were a little bit crooked. Normally the mother lion would not feed the cubs if they are not in good shape,” Li Xiulin, a zoo keeper at Yunnan Wildlife Park said.

“The mother lion…ignored them. She wouldn't caress them or stay with them.”

Video showed Ms Li feeding the lion cubs special milk formula in the confines of their incubator.

"We feed a feline with milk powder specially made for them; primates can drink milk powder that we humans drink," Ms Li said.

The twins will live in a nursery until they are six months old, before they are able to meet the public in early 2018.
