Florida woman pops out to buy coffee as storm rages

An elderly Florida woman left the safety of her home in the midst of Hurricane Irma to try and buy coffee after she suffered caffeine withdrawal.

A TV news report yesterday by Fox 4's Malcolm Johnson from Fort Myers shows the woman driving her red car to a deserted service station car park.

The sight of the lone vehicle in the raging storm sparked Johnson's interest.

When the woman emerges from the car she tells him she is a local resident who is suffering bad headaches from a lack of coffee and has run out of the beverage.

"I'll be honest with you I've got such a bad headache. I've run out of coffee," she tells him.

Johnson tells her the store is shut and she should be staying safe inside.

"Coffee can wait," he says as he escorts her back to her car.

The stunned reporter ends the clip with: "Coffee in a hurricane!"
