A nun in the US who just turned 105 says her age won’t stop her decades-old habit of sending encouraging letters to prisoners.

Sister Mary Mark, from Minnesota, said she had been encouraging inmates at correctional facilities for years, and had implored others to do the same.

“As long as I can write, I’ll do it,” she told Good Morning America.

“I’ve been doing it for many years. They’re in prison, but they’re working. They hope to make it. Other people have asked me for names, so that they could write to them too.”

The centenarian, who turned 105 last week, even once testified on behalf of one of her recipients, who was on death row.
