Somewhere we'd like to live: Brazilian jungle home

Although this stunning build by Jacobsen Arquitetura would be cool no matter where it was, its extreme jungle location is the kind of setting escapist dreams are made of.

Located on the coast of São Paulo, Guaruja City in the middle of the Atlantic Forest, AMB House is tucked into its rainforest terrain. Sloping down a mountain, the natural landscape is framed at different vantage points throughout the home. This also means from the street you can only see one of the three floors. 

The layout of the build reverses the usual configuration which reserves bedrooms for the upper-levels. After entering, a large mezzanine overlooking double ceilings (measuring in at 6 metres high) opens out to glass windows which look over the swimming pool and forest.   

The vast decked areas, which wrap around the structure and blur the lines between the inside and outside, are perhaps the most impressive feature of the home. The balcony is surround by a large wooden bench, which serves as protection from the elements — while the living and dining room joins to an outdoor kitchen and the infinity pool area.
