Mum shares amazing hack for getting black Sharpie off white walls

Anyone with kids knows how creative they can be, but finding permanent marker scribbles across white walls can be a total nightmare.

While you may think your only option to get rid of it is repainting, there's an easier and cheaper way to fix this problem.

One clever mum shared a game-changing hack for getting Sharpie off your walls using a product you already have in the cupboard.

In a quick video shared on TikTok, the woman, who goes by the username @thebastfamily, wiped off marker in a flash using sunscreen.

First, she writes 'I hope this works' on a white wall in black marker.

Next, she takes a spray-on sunscreen and generously sprays it all over the writing, which begins to come away from the wall and drip down.

She uses a damp cloth to wipe away the excess, and after putting in a bit of elbow grease the wall is white again, with no traces of the writing.

The video, which she captioned 'Parent hack', has gone viral, with over 2,000 likes and close to 22,000 views.

"You had me nervous on that one!" commented on TikTok user.

One wrote, "Of course it's you with the genius ideas!"

And while many of the users were impressed with the clever hack, others offered their own tips for dealing with Sharpie drawings on the walls.

"Magic erasers worked pretty well for me, but I'll have to try this if it ever happens again, not going out of my way to make it happen," wrote one mum.

Another commented, "Coconut oil works too."

While this is a great hack and clearly worked for her, when you are trying out alternative cleaning methods it is best to spot test first.
