Simply Japanese Bonsai
Practising the ancient art of zen through Japanese painting, flute and primarily Bonsai, Michael Eberle has devoted his life to appreciation of Japanese culture. After watching Shintaro the Samurai as a child, the beauty of the culture caught Michael's eye, and he was inspired to learn more.

Leaving home at just 14 years old to join a commune, Michael was tasked with doing something creative to share with visitors, so naturally he chose Bonsai. He devoted himself wholeheartedly to the craft, requiring daily care year round. Michael went on to study Bonsai for 4 years, leading him to the Australian Bonsai Society.

In the year 2000, Michael found a new home at the Eumundi Markets, sharing his love with locals and tourists alike. Simply Japanese Bonsai is a staple in the market's long list of stallholders, and Michael feels like the markets are his one big family. When Michael isn't at the markets, he's at his home in Pomona, amongst his endless garden of Bonsai. Michael also practises Japanese painting and flute playing, all in the pursuit of a true state of zen.
