For more than 20 years, Kuku Yalanji Elder Roy Gibson had a dream to share the beauty, spirituality and energy of Mossman Gorge. Growing up in Mossman in Far North Queensland, Roy realised at a young age that there was an opportunity to share the Kuku Yalanji culture through tourism and in 1987 he started Dreamtime Walks – guided tours through Mossman Gorge, led by Indigenous people.

After operating successfully for a few years, the idea for the Mossman Gorge Centre came to him, "in a dream so powerful that I couldn't ignore it", says Roy. The Indigenous Kuku Yalangi people own and manage the Mossman Gorge Centre, showcasing their culture. Robert Lafragua is a Kuku Yalangi Indigenous Guide at the Mossman Gorge Centre, who loves to tell the tales and stories of his ancestors so visitors can share in his culture.
