Martha Kalifatidis still struggling with 'ugly' side-effects from COVID-19

Married At First Sight star Martha Kalifatidis is still struggling with lingering health issues weeks after contracting COVID-19.

The reality star and her fiancé Michael Brunelli tested positive after their trip to Central and North America, arriving home to Australia just before Christmas.

Although they are out of isolation, Martha shared that the side effects are still hitting her hard in a post on her Instagram stories.

"I know I've been so MIA on here but if I'm being honest, I still feel pretty s--- after COVID and it's been over two weeks," she explained.

The 33-year-old went on to detail that she's barely left the house, despite being able to, because the effects are still hitting her hard.

"I've just got these weird, ugly, lingering symptoms," she said.

"Like I don't really do much, I can't ever be bothered leaving the house, I still can't taste, I still have like blocked ears, blocked nose. Anyway I'm taking all of the supplements, I'm doing all the things but f--- I feel like s---."

Martha then went on to share a brief clip of herself cooking dinner, but said that even just standing for the short clip left her "puffed out".

The couple found out they had coronavirus just after Christmas, with many fans of the couple questioning when they actually caught it.

Michael shared a timeline of the tests they had before their flight back to Melbourne, which were both negative. They then had a negative test the day they arrived back in Australia, and another negative result on Boxing Day.

The morning after Boxing Day both Michael and Martha tested positive.

The couple had a rough time with the virus and she described the symptoms akin to having "tonsillitis, gastro and the flu in one".

"COVID sucks. It is so f---ing s---. Some people are like, 'It's just a cold,' but it is a pretty s--- one," she told her followers in a video on her Stories at the time.

Michael copped the worst symptoms out of the pair, even projectile vomiting during the most severe stage of his symptoms.

Martha was also quick to shut down people who were messaging asking why the couple had caught coronavirus if they were fully vaccinated.

"You can still get COVID if you've had all your vaccines — it's just not as severe," she said.

It's hardly an ideal start for their life as an engaged couple.

In early December Martha announced Michael had proposed by flashing her new ring alongside a post simply captioned, "Mrs B".

Their holiday to Mexico, Los Angeles and New York was a whirlwind trip after their engagement and although they've been through a rough trot with COVID, we're sure it's only bought them closer together.
