From break-ups to bombshells: MAFS' Rhi and Jeff's relationship timeline as they celebrate a special milestone

Married At First Sight's Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels are the only original couple still standing from Season 12 and they've celebrated a very special milestone.

The MAFS golden couple marked two years since their very first date, the date that is they went on before going out for a month, breaking up and then meeting and marrying at first sight only to date all over again.

Yep, Rhi and Jeff's love story is a complicated one.

A year on since they reunited, the couple are living in Melbourne together and still going strong.

"We still can't quite believe how far we've come and are SO excited for this next chapter together!" Rhi shared.

Rhi has been open about her plans to start a family with Jeff, with babies and marriage definitely on the cards.

She's even admitted to spending the past year prepping her body for her "future baby".

If their 2025 Christmas photo is anything to go by, the two look very cosy and loved-up indeed.

Rhi and Jeff start dating – September 2023

With both Rhi and Jeff socialising in the same circles in Victoria they soon met and began casually dating.

The account manager and electrician had both just come out of long-term relationships and so weren't particularly looking for anything serious at the time.

The pair explained that their brief relationship just "fizzled out" and both Rhi and Jeff realised they needed to focus on themselves in that phase of life.

Jeff admitted they both "friend-zoned each other".

Rhi told 9Entertainment that they ended things mutually and "on really good terms" which made things slightly less awkward when they ended up marrying each other...

When Rhi and Jeff signed up for Married At First Sight they were banking on marrying a stranger not somebody they'd already dated.

When Jeff turned around and locked eyes with Rhi, she immediately stopped in her tracks.

"Hi Rhi," Jeff said.

"Hey Jeff," she responded.

There were no introductions needed.

Wedding guests were initially confused over what all the fuss was about before some of them recognised the other party.

"Yeah, they've already slept together," one guest whispered.

Rhi and Jeff move out of the friendzone

In the MAFS experiment, moving out of the friendzone became their biggest challenge.

Come Confessions Week, Rhi was ready to risk it all.

She admitted to Jeff that on their wedding day, when she realised she knew him, she felt "robbed" of the true MAFS experience of marrying a stranger.

But after spending so much time together, she could see them having a future.

"P.S. you need to make the first move," she laughed.

They become the experiment's golden couple

After breaking through the friendzone, Rhi and Jeff jumped leaps and bounds in their relationship.

They exchanged stories, feelings and even house keys. They didn't face a speedbump or have an argument the entire experiment and quickly became the gold standard for other couples.

The couple say 'I love you'

At Final Vows the couple declared they were falling for one another.

"Rhi, you're it for me. I choose you and I hope this is forever," said Jeff.

They agreed to continue on their romance outside of the experiment.

Then, they had some big news to share...

At Reunion, the experts asked the couple if they were in fact at the love stage yet.

Jeff dropped the L-bomb on the couch in front of all his co-stars and Rhi said it right back.

Rhi and Jeff officially move in together – May 2025

After living together in the experiment, Rhi and Jeff decided it only felt right to officially move in together when they got back to Melbourne.

They confirmed the news to 9Entertainment: "I know we did live together in the experiment, but [moving in outside] really just cemented our strong relationship.

"I think that was a big step for our relationship. We came out of the experiment, and in such a short space," Rhi said.

"It was just really cool being able to pick out the stuff you want for your own apartment and really build a home together," Jeff continued.

"We moved into a new place that neither of us had lived in before, so it was starting fresh. I think we probably undervalue with how important that moment was, how big that moment was for our relationship."

A laid back couple need a laid back celebration of their one-year (MAFS) wedding anniversary.

The couple marked the occasion with a getaway to The Mineral Springs Hotel in Hepburn.

In a special tribute to his MAFS bride, Jeff penned this adorable message on Instagram: "Sometimes the last thing you expect is exactly what you needed. One year to the day our wild journey."

Nothing tests a relationship quite like an international trip but it looks like Rhi and Jeff passed with flying colours as they headed to Singapore.

"Making memories with you is my favourite thing to do 🤍 Our first overseas trip was a hit!" Rhi captioned a collection of vacation snaps.
