'This is unprecedented': Expert John Aiken in shock as groom 'does a runner' in explosive sneak peek for MAFS 2024

This season of Married At First Sight will involve something we've never seen before in the show's history.

In a new trailer – which you can watch above – expert John Aiken finds out some news.

"In all of our years of this experiment, this is unprecedented," he's heard saying, as he steps out of his car and knocks on someone's door.

"Everyone's going to want to know about it," another groom is heard whispering, before a bride adds: "Did you hear one of the grooms... is gone."

The voiceover confirms the massive shock of the season: "For the very first time, a groom does a runner."

For now we have no idea who said groom could be, but it's fair to say the news will send shockwaves through the experiment.

The rest of the trailer further introduces us to the mammoth season ahead, with confident groom Jack telling cameras: "Would I call myself an alpha? Yes."

We then flash to Lucinda's wedding, where horrific weather causes chaos during the reception.

"Is this how you imagined your wedding to be?" a producer asks, to which she responds: "I think it's better!"
