Former Married At First Sight star Charlene Perera has announced her split from her Melbournian boyfriend Marcus Tanti in an emotional Instagram post this morning.

The photo, a text post that reads the quote, "She looked at her old life one more time, took a deep breath and whispered I will never see you again," was posted alongside a caption that inferred a departure from her year-long relationship with Marcus.

"Another one bites the dust!" the caption said.

"Sometimes things just don't work out how you planned, no matter how hard you try, so you pull up your socks and get back on bumble! So heartbroken.

"But we take a deep breath and take our learnings from one endeavour to the next chapter of greatness! Hold the sadness then let it go, great things to come."

The breakup announcement post came just five days after Charlene posted a photo with Marcus and some friends.

The couple met after Marcus reached out to Charlene on social media, having seen her on the show, and eventually the pair started dating.

"He contacted me after the show through social channels, and I wasn't really seeing anyone straight after the show, but he contacted me again about six months later," Charlene recalled.

"He was just complimentary about my personality and how I was inspiring to watch, which is lovely, and then we just bantered."
