There's always something to see at the Sydney Opera House – a play, musical act, ballet and of course opera. Instead of heading in just for the show, make a day of it and enjoy the activities and restaurants in the area.
Tim did just that and started with lunch in the sun at Opera Bar. The restaurant is run by renown chef Matt Moran, and serves up fantastic seafood platters, sashimi, burgers and other favourites. The view from the tables has to be one of the best in the world.
To work off the feast Tim strolled over to the Royal Botanic Gardens. The spectacular gardens opened in 1816 when Europeans arrived in Sydney Cove laden with plants from home. Now the gardens sit on the most expensive real estate in town! They run various walks, tours and exhibitions every day.
Now if you are after a fabulous meal before the show, escape to a world of indulgence at Portside. Tucked away in the iconic western foyers of the Sydney Opera House, they offer either grazing, a la carte, or pre-theatre menu options. Portside focuses on fresh seasonal produce all with uninterrupted views of the Harbour Bridge!
If you're keen for a nightcap after the show, then head back to the Opera Bar, which has live entertainment every night of the week and gives you the perfect view of this glittering harbour city by night.
