This company wants to pay you $47k to travel the world for a year

Ask anyone what their dream job is, and there's a good chance you'll hear an answer along the lines of: "Being paid to travel the world."

Cynics would tell you such a role does not exist, but they've just been served a sizable chunk of humble pie.

A UK travel deals website is giving one lucky soul the chance to roam the globe for a year, free of charge, while receiving a $47,000 salary.

Wowcher's 'Global Ambassador' will visit all 40 destinations in the company's £99 Mystery Holiday deal in the space of 12 months.

These include locations in Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Iceland, Las Vegas, New York, Thailand, Dubai and Marrakech.

Some trips will involve multiple destinations, with excursions provided.

The successful candidate will also be permitted to bring a plus one on each of the trips, extinguishing any worries about getting lonely on the road.

As part of the contract, the Global Ambassador will be expected to document their overseas experiences on social media, blogs and YouTube.

Given we live in the age of "if it's not on Instagram, it didn't happen", that shouldn't be too much of a stretch, really.

The requirements of entry are fairly straightforward: candidates need to be over 18, in possession of a passport, and have a love of "travel and content creation".

Candidates will need to make a 30-second video explaining why they would be suitable for the role, and submit it as a Twitter or Instagram post.

The post will need to tag @Wowcher and include the hashtags #WowcherDreamJob and #WowcherMysteryHoliday.

The winner will also need to have tagged three friends in their post, and already be following Wowcher from the social media account they enter through.

Entries close December 30. To find out more, visit the Wowcher website here.

The travel deals website isn't the first company to offer a 'dream job' requiring travel for payment.

Earlier this year, Hotels.com advertised for a Poolhop, i.e. someone to travel to hotel pools across the US, document their experiences at each and report back.

The site offered $AU14,000 for the gig, which involved two weeks of work. Nice job if you can get it.

Another US company, Reynolds Wrap, also launched a search this year for someone to travel across the country in search of the tastiest ribs.

This role, also a two-week gig, similarly came with a $14,600 paycheck.
