Australia and New Zealand have moved up the list of most powerful passports for 2021.

The Henley Passport report shows both countries shifting one place up each between 2020 and 2021, with Australia changing from ninth place to eighth, and New Zealand eighth to seventh.

Asian countries have taken out the top spot once again, with Japan ranking at number one, Singapore taking out the second spot and South Korea and Germany tying for third place.

The British passport came in at seventh place with visa-free access to 185 countries, in joint place with Switzerland, the USA, Norway, Belgium and New Zealand, improving by one place between 2020 and 2021.

Britain was given a boost after Turkey announced residents would no longer need a Visa to enter the country for up to 90 days.

Also in the top 10 is Italy, Finland, Spain and Luxembourg at number four, Denmark and Austria in fifth place, in sixth position is Sweden, France, Portugal, Netherlands and Ireland.

Joining Australia in eight position is Greece, Malta and Czech Republic, Canada comes in ninth position and Hungry has taken out number 10.

During the pandemic, having the most powerful passport isn't particularly helpful, thanks to COVID-specific global travel restrictions.

The Henley Passport Index doesn't take these restrictions into consideration when creating the list - it only looks at the places you can officially visit with your document. Qantas Australia announced the opening of international flights from July but this is yet to be confirmed by the government.

It isn't yet known how Brexit will impact the list although it will be monitored across the year.
