Time Out has named the best cities for 2024, curated by asking city-dwellers what it's like to live in their hometowns.
The list also considered each city's activities, its food and drink and overall enjoyability.

20. Melbourne, Australia
Australia just made the cut with Melbourne, which is known for its vibrant art scene, great coffee and a good balance between city life and sprawling garden landscapes, sitting at #20.
18. Amsterdam, Netherlands
Brimming with history and fine art, Amsterdam offers everything from famous nightlife to sleepy streets.
With its rich architecture and stunning canal, 88 per cent of locals say finding love is easy in this romantic city.
17. Los Angeles, America
Home to Hollywood and Beverley Hills, Los Angeles is a star-studded city.
Known for its sunshine and luxurious dining scene, it comes as no surprise 89 per cent of its locals approve of its healthy restaurants.
16. São Paulo, Brazil
The largest city in the Southern Hemisphere is celebrated for its cityscapes, great food and vibrant nightlife.
A whopping 100 per cent of those locals surveyed said their city makes them happy.
15. Manchester, England
Known for its nightlife with an unmatched clubbing scene, Manchester is also famed for its local soccer club, who have won 20 English League titles.
All of this excitement means 96 per cent of Mancunians said their city makes them happy.

Chicago is the unofficial capital of America's Midwest, home to deep-dish pizza and booming nightlife.
The Windy City has something for everyone, whether you want to visit its food and drink scene or its many attractions.
12. Mumbai, India
The financial capital of India has deep historical elements, as well as modern twists that make this dynamic city perfect for everyone.
Mumbai was one of two cities that received 100 per cent approval for their delicious food scene.
11. Paris, France
A favourite among tourists travelling to Europe, Paris is a must-visit spot.
Brimming with historical architecture and a deep Parisian culture, this city is jam-packed with art wherever you look.
It comes as no surprise that this city receives around 30 million visitors a year.
10. Porto, Portugal
A vibrant and colourful city, Porto is known for its port wine and much-loved heritage.
Its picture-perfect architecture makes for a romantic city which means 82 per cent of locals say it's easy to find love there.
