Stunning images reveal how major cities will look in the future

Huge glass biodomes, flying buses and trains, towering ultra-modern skyscrapers – far from a description of the latest sci-fi blockbuster, these futuristic fantasies could one day be a reality if certain ambitious architectural projects go ahead.

Budget direct travel insurance have revealed what some of the world's largest cities might one day look like if ultramodern innovations that are currently in the works are completed.

Historic cities such as London and Paris are transformed from odes to the past to visions of the future with 'smart' green buildings and 'farmscrapers'.

Meanwhile Dubai's vast desert landscape is depicted as awash with ultra-modern skyscrapers and glistening chrome domes.

The artist also illustrates what a very modern Manhattan might look like if the U-shaped Big Bend building ever goes ahead and a monorail is installed throughout the city.

Thailand's capital Bangkok is also depicted in the series of images, where it's predicted the city will become the 'Venice of the East', as the buildings and transport links will need to be elevated far off the ground to avoid rising water levels.

Moscow and Rio de Janeiro feature too, with their historic buildings and famous statues dwarfed by glass and chrome structures.
