Virgin Australia drop one million seat sale for Queensland with flights from $59

Virgin Australia is running an epic seat sale to celebrate Queensland borders reopening, with a million fare prices slashed and some starting from a low $59.

The 'Queensland is Good to Go' promotion drops today, ending on midnight AEST this Friday, December 17.

Aussie travellers can enjoy discount fares to destinations including Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays, Townsville, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Cairns.

Among the stand-out fares, are one-way flights from Launceston to Brisbane from $59, Hobart to Gold Coast from $59, Adelaide to Brisbane from $89, and Melbourne to Sunshine Coast from $95.

The reopening of the tropical state's borders comes after nearly five months, and just in time for Queensland's peak tourism period.

Flights searches on the Virgin Australia website surged by 120 per cent following last Monday's border reopening announcement by the Queensland Government.

Dave Emerson, Virgin Australia's Group Chief Commerical Officer, said the sale would be one of the airline's biggest to date, allowing travellers to make the most of eased border restrictions.

"Today is a monumental day for Australians, and we're delighted to help travellers right across the country reunite with loved ones, friends and family or finally visit that dream Queensland holiday destination over the summer period and into 2022," said Mr Emerson.

Emerson described the promotion as one of the largest statewide sales in the company's history, with "some of the best value fares on the market".
