Mini-tsunami hits Spanish holiday spot where Love Island Australia is filmed

Holdiaymakers on an idyllic Spanish island — the same used for the filming location of Love Island Australia — have been forced to evacuate a beach after a 'mini-tsunami' struck a resort town.

The moment five-foot waves hit the coast, flooding shore in Port d'Alcudia in Mallorca, has been captured in dramatic footage.

In the clip, filmed in Mallorca's north-east, huge waves rush into the shore, completely blanketing the beach and seaside terraces and submerging the usually dry and sandy stretch.

It's unlikely the luxurious Love Island Australia villa, at an undisclosed filming location, would have been affected by the freak waves, as it sits back from the coast.

Locals reported seeing the water drop by one metre, then suddenly return, with waves as big as five-feet, according to the Mirror.

The Spanish island is renowned for its stunning beaches, azure water, mountainous terrain and charming villages.
