Granddad's airport reunion will make you melt

Ah, there's nothing quite like an airport reunion.

Moving interstate for work and leaving family behind is a heartbreaking reality for many Australians, with airfare costs making it difficult to stay connected.

So when Aussie grandparents Kerri and Kevin got to meet their baby grandson for the first time thanks to Qantas and TODAY, it made for some adorably gushy live television.

"[It's been] two years, we have not met Beau," grandma Kerri spoke of the last time she'd seen her daughter Ebony and her new grandson.

Ebony had to move away from her family to Darwin for her husband's work.

"He's a very cute, chubby little boy ... He's always giggling and wanting to be interacting with the family."

Little Beau also has a special connection with his grandfather.

"He's born on my birthday," granddad Kevin proudly revealed to the TODAY team, adding jokingly: "They didn't call him Kevin though, so that's a shame."

Unsurprisingly, the long-awaited reunion with their daughter and first-time meeting baby Beau is quite the tear-jerker. Watch Granddad Kevin's heart-melting reaction in the clip above.

Ebony's airport reunion was first of a series featured on TODAY, with Qantas teaming up to bring a number of families together around Australia who wouldn't otherwise have the means. It'll have you reaching for the phone a dialling mum.
