Stunning time-lapse of stars above Switzerland’s mountain ranges

Photographer Christian Mülhauser has captured the beauty of the night sky over the rugged landscape of Switzerland in this incredible time-lapse video.

The footage is made up of an unbelievable 55,000 pictures, which run together to show the how the night sky changes and moves over time.

The gentle rotation of the sky can be seen in the video, as can hundreds of shooting stars.

Mülhauser used eight different locations to capture the footage: Creux du Van, Schongütsch, Rifugio al Legn, Rhonegletscher, Hirli, Dent de Jaman, Pilatus and Ballonfahrt.

All these locations are mountainous areas of Switzerland, which allowed Mülhauser to get clear footage of the sky without the coverage of pollution which usually comes from being too near a city.
