Impressive feature at new Aussie hotel will please impatient travellers
It has been one of the hottest hotel openings in Sydney for years.
The EVE Hotel Sydney was unveiled on the edge of the city centre a few months ago.
The area has undergone a massive transformation turning it from a rundown old shopping centre into a hip enclave.

There are now swanky apartments and upmarket restaurants as well as a branch of cult dessert shop, Messina Gelato, as part of the complex which houses the hotel.
Where is The EVE Hotel Sydney
The hotel is in the inner city suburb of Redfern, just over the road from buzzing Crown Street in Surry Hills.
Built on the site of an old shopping centre so dodgy it was once known as the "murder mall' the new Wunderlich Lane also houses supermarket Harris Farm Markets, cafes and restaurants.

One of them, Olympus Dining has already become one of the hottest tables in town.
With 102 rooms, all with balconies of varying sizes, the hotel is about ten minutes from Sydney's Central Station by bus or light rail.

The Rooms
We had a courtyard room with a small balcony which was big enough to get some fresh air on the single supplied stool.
Inside there was a separate seating area with a trendy green sofa, chic wardrobes and a suitcase space, plus a bar area with a fridge, coffee machine, kettle and (overpriced, as usual) food and drink to buy.
Every blind and curtain was closed (they're electronic) when we arrived, transporting us from a steamy Sydney afternoon to what felt like an evening somewhere like New York.
The design of the room was height of chic, all green velvet, funky lights and a lot of marble.

The bathroom was half open to the room - but thankfully had an enclosed shower and loo.
We were impressed by the amount of vanity space, too. It was also nice to get a turndown service - it's something most five star hotels have done away with.
We were left some water (you're given a nice glass jug to full from the station in the corridor) and something called 'Deep Sleep' sachets by wellness brand IKKARI.
Well, it's a change from the old fashioned chocolate.
Turns out the hotel was very quiet, so we didn't need much help to drift off.
As for leaving the room, well one handy feature we noticed was the screen at the lifts tells you how long you'll have to wait. Ten seconds in most cases.

The food
We dined at cool rooftop Mexican restaurant Lottie.
Everything we tried, from the guacamole to the market fish with salsa were very tasty. The tortillas are even made on a press shipped from America.
Cocktail fans will also love the margaritas.

Bar Julius, where breakfast is served, is undoubtedly chic. But the staff take keeping things in check pretty seriously.
Within one second of my husband rushing in and plonking an energy drink on the table he was asked to 'please remove it' (no, I don't know why he did that but also he wasn't planning to drink it there).
The boss did apologise by email when I mentioned it on the feedback form though.
They also seemed confused when I asked for a sweetener for my tea, pointing at the sugar.
Next time, we'd like some of the other breakfast options too - the portion of brulee cinnamon porridge we both opted for was a little small (even if we did really enjoy cracking the crust).
The pool

Lounging there made us feel like we were in Los Angeles.

There's even sunscreen on hand, and we noticed staff delivered little cushions to sit on the side of the pool to avoid guests burning their bottoms.
It's got to be one of the most stylish outdoor hotel pools in Sydney.
Plus for summer, 'sunrise ritual' classes from Scout Studios - that's yoga, pilates, breathwork, strength - are hosted poolside three mornings a week.
The verdict
Amid an abundance of new hotel openings in Sydney, The EVE is a standout for its trendy design, hip pool and must-visit restaurants.
