Sydney crowned the most popular destination for New Year's Eve celebrations in the world
New Year's Eve is one of the most anticipated nights of the year worldwide, as people come together to celebrate and welcome the new year in style.
From spectacular fireworks displays to vibrant street parties and elegant gatherings, some cities stand out for their ability to host some of the most unforgettable and iconic celebrations.
With this in mind, long-haul travel experts at Travelbag analysed the number of social media posts and Google searches for 100 cities across the world to determine which are the best for New Year's Eve Celebrations.
It's little surprise our own harbour city came out on top - but which other stunning destinations made the top ten?
10. Toronto, Canada
Kicking off the list in 10th is Toronto, Canada with an average of 6,600 monthly searches on Google. The city hosts a 10-minute fireworks display synchronised to music, lighting up Toronto's inner harbour at midnight. The event will be livestreamed for those celebrating remotely.
9. Miami, USA
One of three US spots on the list, Miami, Florida lands at number nine with an average of 6,600 searches a month.
8. Melbourne, Australia
Aside from Sydney's stunning show, our Aussie neighbours (or rivals) also offer up something exciting enough on NYE to garner over 8000 monthly searches on Google.
7. Amsterdam, Netherlands
With also just over 8000 monthly searches, Amsterdam lands in seventh spot. With its beautiful streets and world-renowned parties, it's no surprise that Amsterdam is one of Europe's ultimate New Year's Eve destinations.
6. Las Vegas, USA
The second US destination on the list popular for NYE celebrations, is the celebration capital of Vegas. New Year's Eve in Las Vegas will feature a fireworks on the Strip and Fremont Street Downtown.
5. London, UK
Another of Europe's most popular destinations for NYE according to Google search data is London. Celebrate New Year's Eve 2024 in London with the stunning firework display at the London Eye.
4. Paris, France
Another iconic location for NYE fireworks is the Eiffel Tower, helping Paris to fourth position on the list.
3. Dubai, UAE
Dubai came third with 9,900 monthly searches, cementing its place as a top destination for a dazzling New Year's celebration.
Dubai also ranks as the most Instagrammable New Year's Eve destination, with stunning fireworks at the Burj Khalifa, Burj al Arab, and Palm Jumeirah. These celebrations have been shared 10,029 times under the hashtag #NewYearInDubai.
2. Nashville, USA
Nashville comes in second with 14,800 monthly searches, standing out for its unique New Year's tradition.
Instead of a fireworks extravaganza, Nashville celebrates with live music and the famous red Music Note Drop, drawing visitors looking for a one-of-a-kind way to ring in the New Year.
Surprisingly, New York's famous Times Square NYE party and ball-drop didn't make the top 10 this year.
