Sir Richard Branson announces 'sexy' three-ship cruise line Virgin Voyages

Billionaire Sir Richard Branson has announced his business is expanding into cruise ships, with the maiden voyage to sail in 2020.

The new cruise line was announced in typical, theatrical Branson style, with bikini-clad dancers taking the stage alongside the business man in a Miami hotel.

The 66 year-old entrepreneur revealed the new cruise line will be called Virgin Voyages and is promising guests will enjoy "the most irresistible vacation at sea".

Three ships — which will hold at least 2,700 people each — are currently under construction, with costs amounting to around $2.6 billion dollars.

The first cruise is expected to sail from Miami to the Caribbean, and will offer guests a boutique, luxury experience.

According to Branson, Virgin Voyages will be the first major cruise line to take advantage of new clean energy technology, saving 5,400 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per ship, per year.

Though Virgin currently offers cruising holidays under the name Virgin Cruises, they currently do not own or operate any ships.
