Outrage over child jumping on tray table during flight: 'Rude and dangerous'

Sometimes having to deal with a screaming baby on a flight may seem like the end of the world, but compared to what this passenger endured you might find you'll never complain again.

Travellers have shared their outrage after a child was filmed jumping on the tray table (which is attached to the seat in front) during a recent eight-hour flight.

"Letting children run wild during an 8 hour flight," the footage shared to Reddit was titled.

The clip, filmed on an unidentified flight, shows a young child standing on a folded down tray table.

They then start jumping up and down, making the seat (and the passenger in it) bounce.

The short video doesn't show whether the passenger in front said anything, or whether the child's family eventually intervened.

Over 1,600 comments have been left on the Reddit thread with people sharing their outrage for the passenger.

"I would feel like a failed parent if my kids were doing this and I was just straight up allowing it," one person commented.

"My only kid is a tornado and NO f---king WAY would I allow her to behave this way in public, let alone on a flight," another parent said.

"I don't care who you are, she can f--k right off right along with her parents," was another angered response. While a fourth person pointed out: "Not only is this rude, it's ... dangerous."

Others wondered what happened next and whether the passenger being impacted in the row in front ended up doing anything.

"Why is the guy just letting it happen? I would've said something," one person wrote.

"I'm pretty non confrontational, but even I would stand up and say something," another agreed.

Meanwhile, one person also pointed out another 'gross' part of the footage.

"The bouncing is obviously infuriating but also the bare feet on the tray table..." they said.

Many wondered whether the flight attendants would intervene as well, with one cabin crew member sharing: "One trick we always tried first when I was a [flight attendant] was to ask the captain to put on the fasten seat belt sign, and make an announcement that everyone MUST be in their seats with their seat belt fastened IMMEDIATELY."
