People in Japan are turning fallen leaves into works of art

There's no shortage of creativity in Japan this season.

'Ochiba' or 'fallen leaf art' as it's known has taken social media by storm.

Rather than discarding fallen leaves, locals around Japan have been collecting the foliage and using it to create vibrant artworks on the pavement.

No leaf-blower necessary. 

Without altering the state of the leaf, artistic locals have created designs of pop culture figures including Hello Kitty, Pikachu and Winnie the Pooh and the results are spectacular.

Others have opted for patterns and shapes that reflect the season.

The beautiful trend has given the dying leaves a final lease on life, brightening up the normally glum pavements and streets.
