Old NSW motel gets Palm Springs-style revamp
A slice of Palm Springs has sprung up just south of Sydney.
In true Schitt's Creek style, an old motel in New South Wales has had a glow-up.

Nichole Karanfilovski snapped up the ageing building in Wollongong and after a year-long revamp, has just reopened it.
Surfside 22 Motel in Wollongong, offers "historic charm with a twist," Karanfilovski, said.

With its sleek canopy and 1950-style design, Surfside Motel is a piece of California near Sydney.
Once called the City Beach Motel - pictured in this old photo - it reopened a few weeks ago under its original name.
"Originally established in 1963, Surfside 22 quickly became a cherished part of Wollongong's history," the company said.

"We wanted to pay homage to the motel's iconic beginnings and rebuild something special for Wollongong and our future guests. We think we've done just that," Karanfilovski said.
Karanfilovski's vision was "to create something quirky and cool for Wollongong, rather than simply demolishing and rebuilding."
The motel has a "luxurious mid-century Palm Springs design" with 16 rooms on offer, each with a kitchen and a bathroom.
There are a few room options, including an adjoining room for families.
Simple but stylish, the owners say, "our vibrant, retro decor sets the perfect throwback vibe, while the latest tech keeps things easy breezy."
The new motel is on Crown St, Wollongong, an easy stroll to the city's beach.
