Travelodge reveals guests' most outrageous demands

Generally, hotel reception and concierge services are there to do what they can to help make your stay better.

But some hotel guests have requests that go way beyond what might be expected of a property, with Travelodge revealing some of the most bizarre demands by guests their staff have had thrown at them over the past 12 month.

Travelodge is the UK's largest independent hotel brand (different from Travelodge Hotels in Australia) with over 570 limited-service hotels across the UK, as well as across Ireland and Spain.

In general, hotel teams "will go above and beyond to help customers".

"However, there are some requests beyond their control," a Travelodge spokesperson told The Mirror.

That includes one one customer, who was staying at Bath Waterside Travelodge, who asked the receptionist to contact The Fashion Museum.

The woman wanted to borrow the city's official 2021 Dress of The Year for her 40th birthday party. That was extremely unlikely to happen, given the dress was the black silk Giorgio Armani number Meghan Markle wore during her famous Oprah interview.

This year's audit also revealed one request where staff were asked to look after the guest's dog so the owner could go shopping, and one person requesting an extra bedroom they could use as a walk-in wardrobe.

Some of the demands also revolved around food, with one person (whose wife apparently had a sweet tooth) requesting their bathtub be filled with ice cream as a birthday present.
