'Unmissable': This is the suitcase a luggage expert uses and why
Despite the fact passengers have been warned against choosing a black suitcase when travelling, the monotone colour still accounts for 40 per cent of luggage purchased.
But there are more and more coloured options available that can help your case stand out from the crowd.
We spoke to a luggage expert to find out why brighter is better, and exactly what kind of luggage expert they use.

According to expert John Mavroudis, General Manager Samsonite Brand, most travellers these days are choosing "light" and "durable" hard side suitcases.
"Extremely light but seriously strong is the ideal material for luggage required to travel thousands of miles to sought-after destinations across the globe," John tells 9Travel.

"C-Lite and Proxis collections are the most popular both globally and locally," he adds.
But choosing something other than black is still something some passengers are getting used to. John however, is completely on board.
"Personally love my Proxis. It features all my favourite things; built in strength and reliability, and colour - I use the Proxis," he says.
"Best of all, it's unmissable when it comes along the luggage carousel and the double wheels make it really easy to wheel through the terminal."

More colour than ever
Thankfully, John says luggage has moved beyond just monochrome colours.
"There are many benefits to having coloured luggage, practically speaking a bright coloured suitcase is more easily identified on the carousel and in overhead compartments," he points out.
He also believes travellers have become more fashion and style conscious than ever before.
"They want their luggage to reflect their personality and individualism."

Other than the colour, John says expandability is a great feature to consider.
"It's especially useful when returning home with holiday keepsakes and shopping. Like being able to expand your carry-on can create space for last-minute airport purchases or to carry a jacket, jumper or scarf."
Luggage expert's packing tips
As for what to put in the ideal suitcase, John is a big fan of packing cubes.
"They allow at-a-glance organisation making it easier to ensure you're packing only travel essentials and not wasting space," he says.
Ditching full-size toiletries are also a must for two reasons.
"In addition to space saving benefits this will also localise any leaks or spillage that might occur during transit.
