Flights from $35: Jetstar drops fares on 200,000 domestic flights in sale

Australian budget airline Jetstar has today announced its 'Mates' Rates Sale' with over 200,000 domestic fares available from just $35.

The sale officially kicks off tomorrow Thursday June 15 at midnight and ends at 11.59pm AEST Tuesday June 20, unless sold out prior.

Some of the cheapest fares include Sydney to Ballina Byron from $35 and Melbourne (Avalon) to Sydney from just $38.

Travel dates on offer vary per route but include mid-July to mid-December 2024. Fares are one-way and excludes checked baggage.

Some of the other fares on offer are:

• Launceston to Melbourne (Tullamarine) from $39 
• Newcastle to Gold Coast from $47
• Sydney to Sunshine Coast (Maroochydore) from $55
• Canberra to Melbourne (Tullamarine) from $59
• Melbourne (Avalon) to Gold Coast from $59
• Sydney to Hamilton Island from $79
• Adelaide to Gold Coast from $89
• Brisbane to Uluru (Ayers Rock) from $99
• Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Busselton from $141
• Perth to Brisbane from $149

The best fares are expected to sell out fast, but Club Jetstar members will have 12 hours exclusive early access from midday today (June 14).

Domestic holidays may be all some people can afford at the moment, after a new report by Finder revealed a growing number of Australians have been priced out of international travel.

A survey of 1,079 respondents revealed travelling abroad has become unattainable for 37 per cent of Australians – the equivalent to 7.5 million people.

Between 2017 and 2018, the average flight from Melbourne to London was sitting at $1,412 – this flight now sits at an average of $2,677 – more than double what it was.

February saw 1,068,410 international departures, according to ABS data, which was a monthly decrease of 308,440 trips.
