A group of penguins are being treated to the high life after bagging digs in an enclosure on top of a 40-metre tall building in Tokyo.

The Sunshine Aquarium recently opened the new tank on the rooftop of their Sunshine City urban complex, close to Ikebukuro Station.

It allows visitors to watch as penguins fly above them and the city, with a large scale tank – measuring around 1000-square-metres - surrounding a passageway.

It's completely transparent so visitors can also see the surrounding skyline.

The Sunshine Aquarium attracts three million visitors a year, with the jellyfish tunnel and coral reef ocean being a big hit on Instagram.
