'Hot spot of Parisian life': Top travel tips from a Paris regular

The city of Paris has a regular hit list of things you need to do when visiting.

Climbing the Eiffel Tower, visiting the Louvre, cruising along the river Seine, and of course a show at the world-famous Moulin Rouge.

But there is so much more to the French capital, from the best pâtisseries, to little-known museums, restaurants and nightlife. Especially if you head a little further afield.

Who better to get some advice from than a Paris regular? They have shared with 9Travel some of their top tips for the areas you may not have thought to visit before.

Depending where you are staying, there is plenty to do in any arrondissement.

Here are some suggestions:

18^e arrondissement

• Jules Jo, the new HQ of the 18^th arrondissement with local, seasonal cooking in a warm atmosphere with comfortable and vegetal deco.
• Le Café Cantine de la Recyclerie, 60, rue Belliard 75018 Paris - The Café-Cantine offers home-cooked food made with fresh, local and seasonal produce, while reducing waste as much as possible. It has been awarded three "écotables", a quality label that measures the environmental impact of restaurants and supports them in their ecological transition.
• La machine du Moulin Rouge, 90 boulevard de Clichy 75018 Paris - A hot spot of the Parisian life and nightlife. A typical place where you can lose yourself in its twists and turns, and discover nostalgia of the past in its nooks and crannies: a night in La Machine means taking the risk of getting lost in a labyrinth.

• Pink Mamma, 20bis, Rue de Douai, 75009 Paris (in Pigalle) - A big and friendly trattoria on 4 floors where meat is prepared Firenze style.
• Amone, 13 Rue Chappe, 75018 Paris- Two friends who are willing to rediscover the flavour of their childhood through a cult French product: the Cordon Bleu.
• Musée de Montmartre 12, rue Cortot, 75018 Paris - A very nice museum that presents a permanent collections, with a unique collection of paintings, posters and drawings, and tells the story of the "Butte Montmartre", its painters and cabarets; the garden, inspired by the masterpieces painted on site by Renoir, offers a peaceful and "greeny" break.
