Iconic music studio used by Oasis and Stone Roses is now moonlighting as a B&B

It's been the birth place to some of the 90s most iconic albums, with Oasis, the Stone Roses and Duran Duran all spending months tucked away within its four walls.

But The Sawmills, the first residential music studio in the UK – which opened in 1974 – has now also opened as a B&B.

Found on the banks of the River Fowey in Cornwall, it still operates as a fully-functional recording studio, with a control room, machine room and two isolation booths.

And it doesn't take bookings for both the studio and the B&B so guests aren't bothered by the noise.

But when there's not a world famous band recording, the main house's seven rooms and five bathrooms open up to the public.

There's enough room for fifteen guests.  And there's also a two-bedroom lodge on the edge of the woodlands that overlooks the creek.

"We do have some people that book specifically because of the bands that have stayed here, we’ve had stag weekends of Oasis fans for instance," Ruth Taylor of The Sawmills told Lonely Planet.

"However, I think most people just see the picture and are dazzled by the sheer beauty of the location, once they book they read up about the place and discover all this history."

Since opening its doors back in the 70s, the studio has played host to Oasis for their album Definitely Maybe, Robert Plant, Stone Roses, Muse, The Verve, Ben Howard, Jessie J, Wet Wet Wet, Supergrass and Duran Duran…to name just a few.
