The top 10 spots for food-loving travellers when visiting London
Food and dining options are important to many travellers when they are deciding where to visit or even where to stay in major tourist destinations.
London is one such popular holiday spot for Aussies and there are certainly plenty of spots foodies will love in the city.
Travel experts London Tickets and Tours analysed Bing Maps to uncover which London areas offer the most restaurants and eateries per 100,000 people.
Each area was scored out of ten based on the number of food options available, and the areas with the highest scores have determined the ranking.
Here are the top 10 areas of London with the most restaurants and eateries.
10. Haringey
Haringey takes the tenth spot, with a score of 6.18. Another industrial area that has expanded its hospitality industry, the North London borough boasts 693.22 eateries per 100,000 people.
9. Wandsworth
Wandsworth is ninth, with a score of 6.47. Another South London borough to make the ranking, Wandsworth is famous for its brewing history, but now also offers 735.15 restaurants per 100,000 citizens.
8. Lambeth
Placing eighth is Lambeth, scoring 6.78. Home to the Southbank Food Market, the South London borough has an average of 786.78 eateries per 100,000 residents.
7. Southwark
Southwark ranks seventh, with a score of 7.42. Situated on the south bank of the River Thames, Southwark has many options including the popular Borough Food Market. Overall, the area has an average of 919.14 restaurants per 100,000 people.
6. Hackney
Sixth is Hackney, with a score of 7.70. The former industrial hub now maintains an average of 992.09 eateries per 100,000 citizens as it has undergone a cultural transformation in recent years.
5. Hammersmith and Fulham
Tying fifth is Hammersmith and Fulham and Tower Hamlets, scoring 7.89. The districts are equal in score due to boasting an average of 1,050.22 and 1,050.04 restaurants per 100,000 residents, respectively.
4. Islington
Coming fourth is Islington, with a score of 8.26. The popular district of North London is known for its independent hospitality businesses and has an average of 1,187.45 eateries per 100,000 people.
3. Kensington and Chelsea
Third is Kensington and Chelsea, scoring 8.78. The West London area has an average of 1,461.72 restaurants per 100,000 citizens, including Michelin star options such as Restaurant Gordon Ramsay.
2. Camden
Camden takes second place, with a score of 9.25. With Camden Market offering a diverse range of food options, the area maintains an average of 1,850.37 eateries per 100,000 residents.
