Originated in the Scottish Highlands during the 16th century, the Scottish Kilt is appreciated around the world.

And the best place to get decked out is at Geoffrey Taylor Kiltmaker, where kilts start at $40 but can go up to the $400 depending on style, size and fabric used.  It’s best to go on your first day of arrival so the designers have enough time to get it ready before your departure.

Being a tourist during Edinburgh Festival can be a little exhausting so for those needing some respite then head to the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh that offers plenty of secret greener-than-green nooks throughout its 70 acres.
