I have now travelled with my little one in a pram a few times and it really adds an extra layer of planning to a holiday.

Just because something is popular with tourists and potentially caters for large crowds, doesn't mean it will be easy to navigate as a family.

Thankfully, the experts at pram specialists iCandy have released a new global ranking, analysing more than 200 of the world's most iconic landmarks to see which ones are the best for families.

Each was scored across key criteria including accessibility, temperature, ticket costs, online reviews and the availability of family amenities, including toilets, baby changing and nursing areas.

Coming out on top was the Grand Canyon South Rim in Arizona. It is considered the most accessible of the three rims and open all year round.

The destination received top marks for having accessible walkways, shuttle buses with ramps and baby-changing facilities.

Reviews of the site average 4.9/5 and generally the cost for a standard entrance pass is only between $US20-$US35 ($27-$41). However new rules introduced in 2026 could see that cost jump to over $US100 per person.

In third place, according to the ranking, was the Forbidden City in Beijing, China.

It was called out for offering affordable family tickets averaging at around $24 and an on-site treasure hunt for children, usually offered through private tour operators (eg EXO Travel) or educational study tours.

The Taj Mahal claims fourth place, notable for becoming the first Indian UNESCO World Heritage Site to introduce a dedicated breastfeeding room in 2019.

One Australian destination received a nod on the list with the Sydney Harbour Bridge coming in at number 40.

While the world-famous Bridge Climb should be reserved for older family members (the age limit is eight) there is a great accessible 1.6km pedestrian walkway to cross.

You can also visit the Pylon Lookout and Museum or nearby Luna Park. It is conveniently located near free parks, and ferries.
