The top 10 destinations in Asia that Aussies are travelling to right now
Asian destinations have always been high on the list for travelling Aussies.
And with less people heading to a slightly crowded Europe this year, it's no surprise Asian hotspots are becoming more popular.
Bookings for flights have increased this year, according to Webjet data shared with 9Travel, with destinations across Asia seeing a 10 per cent increase in bookings for the coming months, when compared to the same period last year.
Here are the top 10 Asian destinations Aussies are travelling to right now.
10. Delhi, India
At number 10 is Delhi. India is a colourful destination packed with history, British architecture, museums, beaches and culture. Most people kick things off in the big cities, before heading to the countryside. You'll uncover unique flavours, busy markets, hidden temples and nightlife.
9. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
In ninth place, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia has two per cent of all travellers heading to Asia choosing to go there.
A city where glitzy skyscrapers meet hawker-style street markets, Kuala Lumpur is known as a melting pot of Southeast Asia.
7. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
The bustling Ho Chi Minh City is in seventh place with a few more travellers opting to start their Vietnam adventures here. All up five per cent of Asia trips are being booked to Vietnam.
4. Bangkok, Thailand
Bangkok has seen a big jump in 2024, with an eight per cent increase of flights booked for travel over the coming months.
You'll never get bored in Bangkok, with temples, palaces, markets and shopping malls galore to explore. There's the opulent Grand Palace and its sacred Wat Phra Kaew Temple and nearby is Wat Pho Temple with an enormous reclining Buddha.
3. Singapore
While a great stopover destination, flights to Singapore specifically has six per cent of travellers to Asia heading there. Peak times are usually considered March to August, although it is a year-round destination.
2. Tokyo, Japan
In second place for destinations Aussies are travelling to in the coming months in Tokyo Japan, at nine per cent of the total flights booked to Asia.
1. Bali, Indonesia
But the standout still at number one with a whopping 47 per cent of Asia flight bookings for a holiday in the next few months is Bali. Still an Aussie favourite, the best time to visit Bali is from May to October, which is the dry season where you'll enjoy mostly clear and sunny weather.
