A flight attendant shares the 'best way' to snag that sweet first class upgrade

In the event we ever fly overseas again, scoring a first class seat without the hefty price-tag is something many of us would relish.

Whether it's the champagne on arrival or soothing reclining seats for a seamless in-flight sleep, the special front section of the plane comes with immense perks.

Now, one flight attendant has shared the "best way" to increase your chances of flying for free in first class.

Cierra Mistt, who regularly shares inside airline secrets on her TikTok account, informed her 2.8 million followers there are "a lot of ways" you can be upgraded beyond your economy class ticket.

Misst revealed in a video, "one of the easiest ways to get free upgrades is literally just being nice to your gate agent and flight attendant."

"The miracles we can work when we're given some Starbucks or a bag of chocolates, especially those long days where we have back-to-back flights and don't even have time to go get some food," she added.

Considering it costs nothing to be kind for the four-figure fee some first class seats cost seems like an easy incentive.

Misst added passengers are occasionally move from their seats at the back of the plane to the front if the vessel "isn't full".

"Normally if our flight isn't full, we have to move people for weight and balance purposes," she explained.

"That being said, normally all aircrafts are tail-heavy, so if we have to move people up to the front, where do you think we're going to take them from? The back."

Garnering over three million views on her clip, Misst added a disclaimer, noting her methods weren't "guaranteed to work," but were simply "ways that I have known to work."

She also added, "I post on behalf of MY views; not my company. That's all."

According to USA Today, the average first class flight in Australia comes in at an eye-watering, $8000-price ticket.

Safe to say, many TikTok users on Misst's video were suddenly encouraged to be "nicer".

"Catch me carrying Starbucks cold brew for the flight attendant on my next flight," wrote one user.

While another cabin crew member claimed they've "upgraded many people for free when oversold in [economy]."

"Always to people who are pleasant and nice to me. Yup, mostly that's all it takes."
