Cruise captain’s trick to improve an inside cabin on a ship

It’s a big dilemma for cruisers. Splash out on a balcony cabin so you can sit outside and watch the ocean, or spend a lot less on an interior stateroom and save the cash for excursions.

However, an expert has offered a handy way to get the feeling of being on the ocean without having to spend as much.
Daniela Gargiulo is staff captain on Sydney-based Carnival Adventure She’s the first female at the company to land the role.
Italian sailor Daniela is second-in-command on the bridge.
And after over more than a decade at the company she has learned a few tips for cruisers.

That includes how to make an inside cabin feel more connected, despite not being able to see the ocean.
“If you’re in an interior stateroom, turn the room’s TV on to the live ship cameras which give you a front-row view of where we are heading,” she told nine.com.au.
Other experts have also told nine.com.au not to discount the cheaper inside cabins.
Katrina and Kev Middleton love cruises so much they live and work on board ships.
“If you are doing a short cruise, save your money and just book an interior or ocean view,” Katrina, from Scotland, previously told nine.com.au.
"Interiors are a brilliant way to make a cruise more affordable and we have had some of our best sleeps in them because they're dark and cool.

Meanwhile, Daniela also said despite the sunny image of a South Pacific cruise, it can get cold.
“People often forget to pack a jacket because it can get a little chilly on deck in the evenings, even if we are sailing in the South Pacific,” she advised.
Her other top cruising tips include downloading the cruise line’s app before boarding.
She also urges travellers have a go at things you would not normally do.
“Guests are sometimes afraid to step outside their comfort zone, when in fact they may have a blast with the trivia or karaoke or the zip line if they’re not afraid to give it a go,” she said.
